So... if you find an author biography or bibliography which is incomplete or incorrect and you have the complete/correct/additional information please send it to me so that I may add it in.
And to the many, many people who have done just that... including some of the authors themselves, who certainly have better things to do, thank you very much, it's what makes these pages work.
I generally reply to just about all comments or questions no matter
how stupid a) I will not reply to email
messages written in ALL CAPS. This is basic netiquette, it's the online
equivalent of shouting. If you don't know this yet I'm surprised you found
my site.
b) I will not reply to emails with extreme cutsey
abbreviations. The usual acronyms are fine (BTW, IIRC, IMHO, and so on).
But a message such as "u r 2 kewl!" no matter how well intended just
irritates the hell out of me. If you can't be bothered to write a whole
sentence then neither can I. Similarily try to do some basic
spellchecking-typos and general errors are fine, god knows I make enough
of them... but if it looks like you were drunk and typing with your feet
I'll probably skip it too.
c) I will probably not reply to abusive
messages (unless I'm feeling ornery). I may or may not have a reason for
not including your favorite author but saying "why the hell isn't X on
your site, you suck!" is not going to do much towards making me want to
add X ... no matter how great he/she is. Addendum: I WILL NOT RESPOND TO
TROLLS. If you don't understand humour I'm not the one to ring your clue
phone.
d) I will probably be nice to
you even if you send me a totally irrelevant note asking me to add
Shakespeare, Hemmingway or last year's Pulitzer prize winner but... please
take a quick look through the site to make sure what you ask is relevant
and/or isn't already there. You don't have to memorize the whole place but
it might save you a "doh" moment.
e) I WILL NOT DO YOUR HOMEWORK. (If you try for the double whammy of
asking me for help with a paper on a non-genre author I will in all
probability reply with an irritated email or none at all)
f) No I will not add Joseph Heller to my author listing. Yes Catch-22
was brilliant. Yes the domain that hosts my pages is catch22.com. However,
he's not a genre author. See point "d".
g) Pretty much anything else is fair game. Comments, questions,
suggestions for additional authors (even if you aren't totally sure wether
they qualify), artists and/or links (your own or someone elses) and
corrections of my spelling are all welcome. You can usually expect a reply
either nearly instantly or in a fortnight-in between seems to elude me. I
can be contacted at
espana@catch22.com, not withstanding the above, I am actually happy to
receive email from visitors to the site and quite likely to do my best to
help you out.
