Stanley G. Weinbaum
(1902-1935)
Stanley Grauman Weinbaum
Bio:
His first published professional SF story, "A Martian Odyssey"
appeared in Wonder Stories in July 1934. He died of lung cancer in
December of 1935. He produced a good number of stories in this short time
and another dozen or so were published posthumously in the next few
years. Despite the brevity of his SF career his groundbreaking
characterization of alien lifeforms and ecologies was extremely
influential to the field and established him as one
of the great SF authors. His first published story, "A Martian Odyssey" is
also his best know and is now deservedly a classic of the genre.
