Balaguer (Look at the picture damn it!) Any discussion of the Dominican Republic can not fail to mention the influence of Dominican politicians, in particular the despot Trujillo and his cohort Joaquin Balaguer. Even in "retirement," Balaguer continues to exert a strong infuence to this day.
