I found that this new Burger King had defaced a historic mural in Old Santo Domingo on my visit there in July 1997. Note that the mural has been changed so that what is now a penis appears to be spouting blood!Fast Food restaurants are being foisted on Third World Nations at a disarming pace. Poorly educated people are more susceptible to advertising techniques. The food served at these restaurants is unhealthy and is life threatening. Moreover, fast food dives are more expensive than local restaurants but offer glamor appeal. Much of the money made by these restaurants is funneled out of the country and does not benefit the local economy.
